Boutique Hotel Home Decor Tips

Bring the boutique hotel feeling home

I love a good boutique hotel, but also there is nothing like being home. After looking through so many hotel listings and pictures, I’ve narrowed down ways you can bring boutique hotel inspired home décor into your space. Starting from low-cost high impact to more of an investment.

The Story

I have become obsessed with boutique hotels, specifically the boho, maximalist, and elevated chic ones. Everything about them call out to me, so much so my nice neutral home is starting to feel like a prison. It needs color and personality STAT. If you’re feeling the same lets get into it.

The Breakdown

Signature Scent
You can walk into most boutique hotels, and they have a signature scent- you could probably pick out your favorite one blindfolded. Scent is one of the top things connected to memories and feelings. Rotating through a few signature scents will elevate your home so quickly. For me, it’s eucalyptus lavender or a lemon linen scent. Most hotels use a waterless diffuser system like this.

Layered lighting and decor
The “big light” is never used in the hotel lobby or common areas- unless of course it’s a stunning chandelier with warm, low lights. They also use lamps, sconces, and dimmers. A room lit only by lamps instantly feels curated instead of utilitarian. As with décor, it’s not too matchy- it’s layered with juxtaposition.

Quality bedding and linens
It’s one of the top changes that makes the biggest difference. Having good sheets and bed linens will instantly elevate your space. And it doesn’t have to be plain all-white. You can even save on this one by just looking for natural fabrics like cotton and linen and checking stores like HomeGoods. Getting a plain white duvet and heat-taping some ornate trim around it for the elevated duvet look. Or add a little personality with varying colors and texture.

  • Next Level Tip: Monogrammed linens
It’s a simple personalization touch that can make you genuinely feel like your home is the hotel.

Material consistency
You don’t have to stick to just one material, but you use the same ones repeatedly like Carrara marble and chrome, or jade and brass.

Elevated products
this is your bathroom or kitchen counters time to shine. If you don’t want to invest in the pricier product you can swap the generic store plastic bottle for a nicer glass container. Or buy the nice product once and refill it. But honestly sometimes those “nicer” picks aren’t much more than average. I’m guilty of thinking they are astronomical, and they aren’t. You can also put your signature scent here too if you can find one coordinating.

  • Next Level Tip: Leave a nice bowl or dish in your guest bathroom for extra sample size products like perfume or toiletries.

The Taste Check

Making your home feel like a boutique hotel is all about intention and curation. Its layered and thoughtful.
