Hey friend, let’s talk about Savannah.
If you’ve been wanting a weekend getaway that feels like stepping into a Southern Living magazine – Spanish moss-draped streets, charming historic homes, and food so good it’ll make you emotional—then please book a trip to Savannah. I just spent two days there, and I’m already planning my second.
If you want to know exactly how to spend a perfect 48 hours in this sweet Southern city, here’s the game plan:
Day 1: Fall in Love with Savannah
Morning: Coffee & Slow Strolling Through Forsyth Park
The first stop? The Collins Quarter at Forsyth. Do yourself a favor and get the lavender mocha—it’s fancy but in a ‘makes-you-feel-like-the-main-character’ way. Then, take your coffee and walk through Forsyth Park, where you have to stop for a photo at the fountain. (It’s a rule. I don’t make them.)

From there, just wander. The historic district is unreal- like picture grand homes, gas lanterns, and oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. Basically, it is the most photogenic city ever. If you head towards River St from Forsyth Park, you will come across Jones St, Gaston St, Taylor St, Gordon St, Oglethorpe Ave, and Charlton St, which are all perfect for your next Instagram post.
Midday: A Little History & A Lot of Food
- If you love a little drama (and a good story), tour Mercer-Williams House—yes, the one from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
- Lunch at The Grey because it’s a former Greyhound bus station turned into one of the most amazing restaurants in the South. The menu changes, but whatever you order will be chef’s kiss.
Afternoon: Shopping, Riverfront Views & Sweet Treats
Savannah is one of those places where you accidentally shop too much because every store is cuter than the last.
- First stop: The Paris Market. It’s part café, part home decor, part ‘I want everything in here.’
- Then, walk over to Broughton Street for some good boutique hopping.
- Eventually, make your way to River Street—yes, it’s a little touristy, but it’s fun! Grab some pralines from Savannah’s Candy Kitchen (don’t even pretend you won’t want a sample).
Evening: Dinner & a Little Ghostly Fun
- Dinner at The Pirates House – delicious Southern fod with a side of history and corny dad jokes from a pirate. I would highly suggest the crab dip, the pecan-crusted fried chicken, and the Orange Rumsicle. The restaurant itself was built in the 1750s and was once used by pirates. They even have an old smuggling hole!
- If you’re feeling adventurous, book a ghost tour! Savannah is supposedly the most haunted city in the U.S., and even if you don’t believe in ghosts, the history alone is worth it. (But also… you might believe in ghosts afterward. Just saying.) Extra spooky, take the ghost tour of the Sorrel Weed House.
Day 2: Brunch, Antiquing & Slow Southern Living
Morning: Brunch & Bonaventure
- Sleep in a little, then head to Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room for family-style Southern cooking that will make you emotional. Fried chicken, biscuits, mac and cheese—it’s a whole experience.
- After stuffing yourself, go walk it off at Bonaventure Cemetery. Hear me out—it sounds weird to visit a cemetery, but it’s one of the most stunning places in Savannah.
- While you’re out of downtown, head over to Wormsloe Historic Site, it is s stunning old plantation. With an oak tree covered drive.
Midday: Antiquing & Coffee Break
- If you love a good vintage find, Savannah is your place. Check out Picker Joe’s Antique Mall or Wright Square Vintage—both are full of treasures.
- Need a caffeine break? Stop at Foxy Loxy Café—it’s cute, cozy, and perfect for recharging before the afternoon.
Afternoon: Learn a Little Before Leaving
- Grab a light lunch at Common Thread—seasonal, fresh, and so good.
- Stop at a few museums before turning your brain off for the night, and head over to Owens-Thomas House for stunning architecture and history. If you’d like to know more about the maritime history of the city check out theShips of the Sea Museum. Or if art is your thing the Telfair Museums are a must.
Evening: One Last Cheers to Savannah
Before you leave, head to The Bohemian and Rocks on the Roof for one last toast to the best weekend ever. It’s got dreamy views of the city, and there’s just something about sipping a cocktail while watching the sun set over Savannah that makes you never want to leave.

While you’re at it, you can hop around River Street for a fun night out. Churchills for a laid-back, old English club vibe.
Other great options are:
- Bar Julian
- Wexford
- The Grove
- Indigo Hotel
- Myrtle & Rose Rooftop
- Arco Cocktail Lounge
Final Thoughts: When Are We Going Back?
This Savannah Georgia Weekend Getaway 2 Day Itinerary is just enough to make you fall in love with it—but not enough to see everything, which means you’ll already be planning your next trip before you even leave. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, romanticize life, and maybe even move there (just me?).
If you go, let me know what you think! And if you find any hidden gems, send them my way—I’m always looking for an excuse to go back.
